Today, the Black Hills is becoming more popular as new cyber-age pioneers blend beauty and commerce to live where they can play year around.  The Black Hills region is located near the junction of five western states and the geographic center of the United States.   Twenty-first Century international trade patterns are well served by this key location and South Dakota's special economic and tax advantages.   Numerous movie productions and festval concert production has introduce many celebrities to the area as well.  Some are now making the area a special base.  Kevin Costner is creating his great "Dunbar" resort complete with connecting period railroad at Deadwood and Randy Travis underwrote the recent campaign to expand the Rapid City YMCA with his concert receipts.

Outside the immediate area, the great lakes of the Missouri and the Rockies lie a few hours away.  Yellowstone National Park and the Grand Tetons are just beyond.   The Black Hills have become a year-around location for a wide variety of celebrations, festivals and conventions in large measure because there are more things to see and do than can be encompassed in one visit.  The Mystical Black Hills are still weaving their spell as they did for centuries before.
